Thanks for stopping by. Listen, you cannot let these people shut down your creativity so I hope you get over your blogger’s block real soon. It is tough, I know..and I sometimes need a pep talk myself but you are right about the comments like the one you mentioned. That is just worthless crap with no merit and not worth your time. But again, I do understand your back and forth about it.

This is a great post. I discovered it after writing a post this morning about how a recent rash of negative comments has plunged me into a bad case of “blogger’s block”:

Your advice is very sane, and these are tactics that I try to use all the time. I wonder if they apply, though, to comments that have no merit (like “Please kill yourself, you a**hole.”) I’ve lately decided that if a comment is an attack that adds nothing to the discussion, I will delete it. But I’m still of two minds about this.

Hey Heidi! When I blogged, I would at times simply not respond to negative comments. You have those people that thrive off of responses, and I don’t “feed the trolls” as you stated.

Sometimes negative comments appear that way, but actually are not negative at all. They are simply the other sides opinion! Sometimes these comments merit a response, and they tend to add to the discussion on rare occasions.

I figure we need those negative comments to make the world go ’round!
